Highest Unemployment Rates in 30% of Markets
Buffalo, NY, Dec. 30, 2010 -- Thirty percent of the nation’s 372 labor markets have their highest unemployment rates in a decade, according to a study by Business First of Buffalo.
A total of 112 markets posted higher jobless rates in October 2010 -- the latest month for which official figures are available -- than in any October since the beginning of the 21st century.
Business First analyzed unemployment data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics for every October from 2000 through 2010, determining the high and low points for all 372 labor markets.
