Hicks Named JCPenney President

Plano, TX, January 5--J.C. Penney Co. has named Ken Hicks president and chief merchandising officer, the retailer said Tuesday. Hicks will report to chairman and chief executive Myron Ullman. Hicks joined the compoany as president and chief operating officer of stores and merchandise operations in 2002, after more than 20 years in merchandising and product development. Hicks will continue to be responsible for store environment, design, construction and the supply chain until a chief operating officer successor is identified. As of Oct. 30, the company had 1,020 department stores throughout the United States and Puerto Rico, and 61 Renner department stores in Brazil.
