Heileson Earns LEED Accredited Professional Status

Sanford, FL, Feb. 3, 2009--Babs Heileson of Commercial Flooring Distributors (CFD) has earned the U.S. Green Build Council's LEED Accredited Professional credential.

"Architects, designers, and facility managers are using the LEED rating system as a design guideline, so this education will allow me to serve our customers better," says Heileson.

President Arden Kelley notes that CFD has provided green products for several projects in the past, including Halifax Hospital, Shands Cancer Tower, Florida State University College of Education, and The Burnham Institute.

Kelley said that what many people may not realize is that vinyl flooring, which CFD sells a lot of, can sometimes considered a green product.

"Our major vinyl manufacturers have incorporated new formulas to ensure their products meet the requirements of Floor Score, an industry standard for indoor air quality.  And International Floors of America, Inc. has just announced a new program which actually allows end users to return their floors at the end of their useful life.”
