Atlanta, GA, August 3, 2006—Haverty Furniture reported sales for the month ended July 31 that increased 10.3% to $73.4 million, compared with $66.6 million in July 2005.
On a comparable-store basis, July sales increased 8.0%.
Sales for the first seven months of 2006 increased 5.8% to $493.5 million compared with $466.6 million in 2005. On a comparable-store basis, sales increased 4.1% for the first seven months.
"Our reported sales for July were somewhat better than we had expected as improved merchandise availability allowed for customer deliveries to be fulfilled more quickly," said Clarence H. Smith, president and chief executive officer. "Total written orders for July were an all-time record for any month, up by a low single-digit percentage over July last year."
