Harris Tarkett To Increase Prices

Johnson City, TN, Aug. 28--Harris Tarkett has announced it will increase prices on all prefinished product shipments effective October 1. Prices will increase by 3% on engineered products, 5% on all longstrip products, and 8% on all solids and the Passport: Australia longstrip line. The increases are necessary to allow Harris Tarkett to maintain adequate inventory levels so that the company can continue to meet its commitment to its customers, according to Dennis Hrusa, vice president of sales, Harris Tarkett. "There are a number of market conditions that influenced our decision, but there's no doubt that the unseasonably wet summer had the most profound impact," said Hrusa. "With loggers unable to harvest enough logs to meet demand, the resulting shortages have caused lumber prices to increase dramatically," he said. "With raw materials representing over two thirds of our total costs, we had no choice but to increase prices."
