Hardware Manufacturers Association Cancels Show

Schaumburg, IL, October 8--The American Hardware Manufacturers Association (AHMA) canceled its show for next year. Reed Exhibitions and the AHMA split last year when Reed, owner of the National Hardware Show, decided to move the show to Las Vegas from Chicago's McCormick Place. AHMA, which had been the show's sole sponsor for 25 years, staged its own show at McCormick Place in April but drew far fewer exhibitors and attendees. AHMA chief executive Timothy Farrell said, "It's a tough decision because the Hardware Show has been such an important event to our members and our industry and our association for such a long time. We're excited about pursuing what's most valuable to our members and our industry now and in the future, not holding onto something that was valuable to them in the past," Farrell added. Claiming some 800 manufacturer members, AHMA is the primary U.S. trade association serving the hardware, home improvement, lawn and garden, and paint and decorating industries.
