Tehran, Iran, July 25, 2006--University students and craftsmen involved in the carpet industry will display their craftsmanship in a contest scheduled for July 29 here in the Museum of Fine Arts, according to the Islamic Republic News Agency.
Quoting a report, Dissemination, the English-language newspaper reported that the contest, to be held on the sidelines of an exposition called 'Patient Knots, Eternal Designs,' will seek to promote the culture by identifying young talents in the field, create an atmosphere for healthy competition among art students and facilitate employment of experts by carpet producers and dealers.
All students and graduates in the carpet industry and those who have learned the skills of weaving on their own can take part in the event.
The competition will focus on a number of topics in carpet designs such as 'the pleasant scent of heaven' by taking advantage of innovative designs witnessed in this branch of art throughout the Iranian civilization.
The works will be evaluated on the basis of criteria including consistencies in patterns, innovative designs, color harmony and contrast which are featured in genuine Iranian carpet designs.
