It is also the latest addition to Hakatai’s online Custom Blend Tool. By simply visiting www.hakatai.com and clicking on the Custom Blend Tool link, architects, designers, builders and homeowners can quickly and personally create, price and order their own unique Ashland custom blend online.
Hakatai’s Ashland Series glass tile inspires old-world sophistication with its rough-cut edges and handmade textures and yet contains a modern edge that makes it a versatile tile for many applications. The Ashland Series is suitable for interior, exterior, residential and commercial wall, countertop or backsplash installations.
“This tool opens up new ‘self-service’ doors for customers who are interested in the fast growing trend of using colorful and unique custom glass tile blends to modernize a shower, spa or kitchen,” says Ann-Britt Malden, creative marketing director for Hakatai. “The Ashland Series is a natural addition to the online Custom Blend Tool with its gorgeous versatility in color and tile durability.”
The first step in online blending is to choose Ashland colors. After each color has been dragged and dropped into the designated slots, the customer will enter the percentages of each color to be blended and click the ‘remix blend’ button. The computer will then randomly mix together the custom color choices and within moments the newly created blend is displayed as a graphic on the screen.
The customer can click the ‘remix blend’ button as many times as desired to change the percentage mix, choose new colors or to see the same blend in other random variations. The Custom Blend Tool also gives the customer the option of choosing their own sample grout color. Hakatai does not sell grout or setting material but they do offer a list of grout manufacturers.
“Taking advantage of this grout color option is quite important,” says Malden. “Creating a glass mosaic tile blend with various shades between the tiles in this early design stage can really help the customer visualize what the end result will look like.”
After the custom blend colors and percentages have been finalized, the price quote is obtained by entering the number of square feet (or sheets) needed for the project. Then the appropriate zip code is entered to obtain a shipping quote. Once the order is complete, a Hakatai representative will contact the customer to confirm the order and get the custom blend project started!
Each Ashland Series custom blend sheet is mounted with clear film on the face of the tile. With any custom blend, there is a 3-5 week production lead time from the point of Hakatai receiving the 50% deposit. This does not include shipping time.
