Groups Sponsor Contest To Design Green Hotel Suite

Washington, DC, Aug. 12, 2009--The American Society of Interior Designers, the U.S. Green Building Council, and the Network of Executive Women in Hospitality  are giving design professionals a chance to design a sustainable hotel suite that will be built on the show floor of Hospitality Design Expo, May 19 – 21 in Las Vegas.

In its first year, the Sustainable Suite Design Competition was created to recognize forward thinking, earth conscious design ideas that will help drive green practices within the hotel industry.

“Incorporating sustainability into interior design projects is transitioning from an opportunity to a priority,” says Thom Banks, deputy executive director of ASID.

“By recognizing and supporting healthier hotel environments, we are raising industry and consumer awareness on the importance of green design.”

In addition to the Sustainable Suite Award that will be given to a team of up to five design professionals, a Student and Young Professional Award is open to emerging professionals.
