Godfrey Hirst Begins Court Appeal in New Zealand
Victoria, Australia, Aug. 22, 2011 -- Australian carpet manufacturer Godfrey Hirst has started its appeal against a Commerce Commission decision in New Zealand to give Cavalier Wool Holdings the authorization to acquire the scouring interests of its rival, Wool Services International.
The Commerce Commission said the purchase may reduce competition for the supply of wool scouring services but said the benefits will outweigh the drawbacks
Godfrey Hirst's lawyers decided to appeal the decision and in early July the High Court in Wellington, New Zealand granted an application that prevented the sale to Cavalier going ahead until the outcome of a court case.
