German Parquet Production Falls in First Quarter

Berlin, German, June 2, 2009--German parquet production dropped by 18.2% to 2.1 million square meters in the first quarter of 2009 compared with the same quarter of the previous year, according to the IHB Network.

The largest losses were recorded by the multilayer hardwood flooring production. The 3-layer-parquet segment decreased by 22.9% to 1.2 million square meters.

Production of two-layer parquet recorded an even stronger decline: -31.2% to 284,800 square meters.

Last year the German parquet production sank by 14.8% to 11 million square meters.
