Gammapar To Acquire PermaGrain

Forest, VA, Mar. 18—Hardwood flooring manufacturer Gammapar will acquire PermaGrain Products, which filed for bankruptcy in December. PermaGrain was one of Gammapar’s major competitors in the manufacture of acrylic impregnated wood flooring, which is made from natural wood that has been impregnated with acrylic resin for a stronger, tougher floor. Gammapar invented the process in 1963. Gammapar and PermaGrain have traditionally been quite strong and respected competitors in this category, with both firms’ product lines being used extensively by commercial builders. When PermaGrain exited the market late last year, however, the architectural and design community was left with unfilled product orders and stalled projects. With this move, Gammapar is not only in a position to fill those orders, it is also setting the stage for making over a brand that has suffered some major setbacks recently. “Over the years, PermaGrain has developed a solid reputation as being a quality company with a high service standard,” said Gammapar’s CEO, Barry Brubaker. “We will build on that reputation as we develop and implement some exciting plans for revising and expanding the PermaGrain product line in the coming months.” The companies will continue to operate as separate entities, and Gammapar intends to retain the sales and production team that was in place when PermaGrain closed its doors. “We will be making every effort to hire back the people that were there,” said Brubaker. “They believe, as we do, in the quality of PermaGrain products and have a high level of commitment to bringing the company back and making it better than ever.”
