Fuel Oil & Gasoline Top Contributors to Inflation in April

Washington, DC, May 13, 2026-Year over year, the all-items index of consumer prices rose 3.8%, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, with the top five contributors to that rise fuel oil, gasoline, airline fares, fruits and vegetables and hospital services.

Fuel oil rose 54.3%.

Gasoline rose 28.4%.

Airline fares rose 20.7%.

Fruits and vegetables rose 6.1%.

Hospital services rose 5.5%.
