Freudenberg Nonwovens to Raise Spunbond Polyester

Durham, NC, August 19-- Freudenberg Nonwovens Tuft Division, in North America, is going to increase its spunbond polyester prices, citing rising raw material costs for the increase, according to Fibre2Fashion. The company informed that polyester chip prices are up by almost 30 percent since January 2003, and already up by 10 percent in 2004. Both the price of oil and the costs of polyester raw materials show no signs of significant reduction for the balance of 2004 and into 2005. Freudenberg informs that it can no longer continue to absorb these materials cost increases. Spunbond polyester prices will increase by between 5 percent and 8 percent from September 1 2004, and warns that further increases may be necessary early next year if raw material prices continue to escalate. The Freudenberg Nonwovens Tuft Division makes spunbond polyester for primary and secondary carpet backings as well as emerging new applications throughout North and South America.
