New York, NY, June 2, 2009 – A Shopper’s Guide to Hand-Woven Rugs from India provides information about the variety of rug styles and types of rugs that are available.

The Guide and website, RugsOfIndia.in, are key components of the nationwide educational and marketing campaign sponsored by India’s Carpet Export Promotion Council, in cooperation with the U.S.-based Oriental Rug Importers Association. 

“The objectives of the ‘Rugs Of India’ campaign are to distinguish the unique craftsmanship of hand-woven Indian rugs from other hand- and machine-made rugs, to make the process of shopping for a hand-woven Indian rug as easy as possible, and to stimulate traffic to area rug retailers,”  said Raja Sharma, vice chairman of the Carpet Export Promotion Council,
