Foss Manufacturing Purchases Beaulieu Needlepunch Fabric Plant
Dalton, GA, October 4, 2016—Foss Manufacturing—a New Hampshire-based company with facilities in Calhoun and Rome, Georgia—has purchased Beaulieu America's needlepunch fabrics plant in Murray County, Georgia, according to the Dalton Daily Citizen-News, and Beaulieu president Michael Pollard confirmed the deal.
The plant employs some 55 people. Pollard said 35 of the employees have elected to remain with Foss, and the others will be offered positions in other Beaulieu facilities.
Pollard declined to specify the terms of the deal.
In April, Beaulieu announced it would be restructuring the company to enhance its competitiveness and would be cutting some 6% to 8% of its more than 4,000-person workforce, but Pollard said the company planned to avoid mass layoffs if possible and reduce its workforce by attrition.
