Former Foamex CEO Nominated as Navy Secretary

Washington, DC, March 30, 2009--President Obama will nominate former Foamex CEO and former Mississippi Gov. Ray Mabus to be secretary of the Navy.

Mabus has spent the last several years in business, serving as chairman and chief executive of Foamex International Inc. and helping lead the manufacturer out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

As an undergraduate at the University of Mississippi, Mabus served in the Naval ROTC, and he later joined the Navy as a surface warfare officer on the Rhode Island-based USS Little Rock. If confirmed by the Senate, Mabus would become the Navy's civilian leader.
