Former Federated Exec to Head Kohl’s Home Departme

Menomonee Falls, WI, September 20--Kohl's has named a former Federated Department Stores executive to oversee shoe and home departments, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Chris Capuano, 45, has been named vice president and general merchandise manager for home and footwear at the department store chain. She will report directly to Kohl's president Kevin Mansell. Capuano's appointment is part of a realignment and expansion of Kohl's merchandising team of executives. The revamp of the merchandise team is part of an overall effort by Kohl's to boost sales after a difficult year in 2003. Last year was the first time in the company's history as a public company that profit declined. Capuano replaces Jack Moore, who left in June to become chief operating officer and president of Linens N' Things. Rich Leto, who oversaw apparel merchandising, left in March. Leto's duties were split between two new executive vice presidents: David J. Campisi and Donald A. Brennan. Mansell has been handling Moore's duties since his departure. Capuano was senior vice president for the home department for eight years at Federated Merchandising Group. The Federated Merchandising Group is responsible for the process of conceptualizing, designing, sourcing and marketing private label and private branded goods across all Federated's department store divisions. Prior to that, she was vice president and divisional merchandise manager home textiles for 16 years at Macy's. Capuano's efforts at Kohl's will be focused on continued improvement in merchandise quality and content, the company said in a release Friday.
