Reims, France, July 25, 2006--Swiss flooring company Forbo Sarlino announced that it is to invest 600,000 euros in the design and construction of an acoustics laboratory at its site in Reims, France.
From there, the group will step up its research into sound-absorbent flooring as well as perform tests on existing products. The manager of the Reims site, Thierry Colas, explained that sound-insulating flooring was a French speciality and was destined to grow as more emphasis is placed on reducing noise pollution.
Forbo Sarlino turned over 1.09bn euros and recorded a profit of 41.7m euros last year. Of this total, the Reims site generated 90m euros of revenue, 14 per cent of which was destined for export.
