Foamex Sees 2004 Pension Expense Dropping

Linwood, PA, Mar. 12--Foamex International Inc. said it expects pension expense to decrease by $1.4 million to $1.8 million in 2004,primarily because of the growth in plan assets. In an annual report filed Wednesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the producer of comfort cushioning for bedding, furniture, carpet cushion and automotive markets said it expects funding $11.8 million to retiree benefit plans in 2004. The company also said it expects 2004 capital expenditures to be $10 million. It expects to spend an additional $4.2 million for internally developed software in 2004, a portion of which may be capitalized. Foamex International had capital expenditures of $6.5 million in 2003, the filing said.
