Conference sessions encompassed a full-scope of healthcare design issues, discussing timely topics such as the Top 10 Mistakes in Master Facility Planning, Accommodating the Obese Patient and Visitor, Using Evidence-Based Research to Create Better Patient Rooms and Units and Creating Exemplary End-of-Life Settings in Healthcare Facilities.
The Symposium concluded with tours of three newly renovated and redesigned Atlanta healthcare facilities to demonstrate the latest design elements and the effects on the patients, visitors, hospitals and staff. Facilities toured included Emory Pediatrics Research and Clinical Building, DeKalb Medical Center at Hillendale and Northside Community Hospital.
More than 40 companies attended the show to exhibit the latest products and technologies in healthcare design. Shelly Steele, director of marketing at Corbin Design said, "Corbin Design was very satisfied with the traffic on the exhibit floor this year. We were able to meet potential clients who understand the value of our way-finding consulting services and have immediate needs. The quality of attendees at this show made it an extremely valuable event."
The Symposium on Healthcare Design is sponsored by Facility Care magazine and is produced by JD Events. The 19th annual Symposium on Healthcare Design will be held at the Navy Pier in Chicago, Oct. 24-26, 2006.
"We came away from the show very pleased we had participated and eager to sign up for 06 at Navy Pier in Chicago," said Teresa Cox, president of APCO Graphics, Inc. and a 2005 Symposium exhibitor. "The Symposium was an intimate and highly targeted tradeshow. We saw many old friends and met several people new to healthcare."
