Wilmington, DE, Oct. 7--Flooring America celebrated its expansion into all 50 states on Saturday, October 4th, with the grand opening of Bob Wagner’s Flooring America in Wilmington, Delaware. Cathy Rigby, Flooring America spokesperson, Olympic gymnast, and Broadway star, made a special appearance at the festivities as hundreds of Wilmington residents visited the store to take advantage of special giveaways and grand opening discounts.
“This is an important milestone in Flooring America history,” said Flooring America President Evan Hackel, who attended the grand opening. “We’re delighted that Bob Wagner’s Flooring America is the retailer to complete our reach into all fifty states and will soon be recognizing this achievement in all of our stores across the country.” Matt Wagner, son of Bob Wagner and co-owner of the new store, also expressed his gratitude to a number of people who helped prepare for the grand opening and commented on his successful relationship with Flooring America: “Even though Delaware was the first state in the Union, in the case of our Grand Opening, we’re proud to be the last,” said Wagner. “This is our third Flooring America store and we are confident that our partnership with Flooring America will only get better.”
To commemorate the event, Bob and Matt Wagner donated a portion of Saturday’s sales to the Peter Pan Children’s Fund, a charity that has locally benefited both The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. In November, Flooring America donated $9,680 to the Peter Pan Children’s Fund through its nationwide Ugliest Floors Contest. The Wagners also gave away numerous rooms of free floorcovering, totaling over $10,000, to randomly selected grand opening visitors. Additionally, the American Cancer Society received proceeds from the sale of Bob Wagner’s book, Fuzzy Side Up 2.
The new store’s 3,000-sq. ft. showroom and 3,500-sq. ft. warehouse will function as a satellite store “to serve the many customers who are new home buyers in the area,” according to Matt Wagner. Bob and Matt Wagner also have Flooring America stores in West Chester and Downingtown, Pennsylvania, to which the Wilmington store’s orders and inventory will be linked by computer. Bob Wagner’s Flooring America, one of the top ten Flooring America dealers in the U.S., employs over 100 people.
Wagner’s new Flooring America showroom is a Dupont Stainmaster Fashion Showplace and carries an array of other carpet, area rugs, hardwood, ceramic tile, vinyl, and laminate flooring, including exclusive Flooring America brands and warranty programs. In addition to dust-free hardwood floor refinishing, Wagner offers professional commercial and residential services through MaxCARE, including carpet and upholstery cleaning, 24-hour emergency water extraction, and tile and grout cleaning.
