Flooring America Donates To Habitat for Humanity

Manchester, NH, March 20, 2007--Flooring America and Flooring Canada have a new convention giveaway – and shipping is included. Wherever the floor covering cooperative holds its annual winter convention, the top-of-the-line flooring that gets shipped in to make the display areas sparkle and shine, is now donated to the local Habitat For Humanity chapter.

This new tradition sent 600 square feet of Flooring America’s exclusive Downs Decade brand carpet to Trinity Habitat for Humanity in Fort Worth, TX following the group’s recent convention at the nearby Gaylord Texan Resort March 8-10.

This is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the local communities where we hold our annual gatherings, and we’re delighted to be able to help such a worthy and essential cause,” said Susan Alex, Flooring America’s director of operations. “We’re glad that Habitat can find a new home for these floors.”

That new home is Trinity’s innovative ReStore shop where the Habitat chapter sells donated new and used building materials at 50 to 90 percent below retail prices. All proceeds benefit Habitat in its mission of revitalizing neighborhoods and helping hard-working, low-income families realize their dreams of home ownership.

“We’re grateful for the beautiful carpet from Flooring America and we suspect it will be a hot item at the ReStore shop,” said Frances Manning, director of development and in-kind donations for Trinity. “It’s a great idea to leave behind the convention flooring in the convention city. Flooring America doesn’t have to ship it home, and we’ll be sure to put it to good use.”
