Floor Covering News Publisher Wahnon Dies

New York, NY, Feb. 1, 2011 -- Al Wahnon, founder, publisher and co-owner of Floor Covering News, died Monday night at the age of 90.

Wahnon was born on February 7, 1920. He served as a paratrooper during World War II. Then, in 1955, he began working as an editor for Floor Covering Weekly and later served as publisher. When Floor Covering Weekly was purchased by Hearst Corporation in 1986, Wahnon resigned and started Floor Covering News, where he remained active until his death.

Among his many activities in the industry over more than 50 years, he was a founding father and current board member of the Floor Covering Industry Foundation. He was inducted into the World Floor Covering Association Hall of Fame in 1992.

A service in honor of Wahnon will be held at Gutterman's Funeral Services in Woodbury, New York at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 3.
