Flip This House Selects Eco-Friendly Shaw Floors
Dalton, GA, May 2, 2007--An hour-long documentary series which follows the journey of charismatic real estate developers in top housing markets, A&E’s Flip This House selects eco-friendly Shaw flooring products for the latest episode set in New Haven, Conn. This season, the show is taking on a unique and exciting project by remodeling a large home that was destroyed in a fire. The three-story home is a condominium-like dwelling, with the first floor unit designed for a homeowner and second and third floor units designed for renters. According to the show’s coordinating producer, Marcia Turner, choosing Shaw’s eco-friendly products was a priority when remodeling the home for Flip This House. As a result, designers chose Shaw’s recyclable Anso nylon carpets for the main stairway and bedrooms of the homes. Anso nylon is an integral part of the Shaw Green Edge™, an umbrella term that encompasses the company’s hundreds of aggressive environmental initiatives. Anso nylon contains Type 6 nylon (N6) which can be recycled at Shaw’s Evergreen Nylon Recycling Facility—the only operating plant of its kind in the world. Carpet made of N6 can be recycled over and over again without the loss of performance or aesthetic qualities. Show designers also selected Shaw’s eco-friendly Epic hardwood, in a warm butterscotch tone, for the renter’s units. In addition to eco-friendly products, designers selected some of Shaw’s other new offerings for the house. Beautiful, rich Brazilian Cherry was selected to give the homeowner’s unit a warm, upscale feel. Shaw’s new African Slate tile was used in all kitchens. This glazed porcelain tile has variations in color and texture that are designed with an intricate surface reminiscent of a natural riverbed slate. Another glazed porcelain tile, Enclave, was used in all bathrooms. Enclave has a unique French limestone visual. Shaw is pleased to offer the company’s flooring selections for well-known programs such as Flip This House. “We are excited that our flooring was selected,” said Scott Sandlin, Shaw’s vice president of residential marketing. “Our goal in participating in shows such as this is to strengthen the Shaw brand and, ultimately, drive the purchase at retail as the recognized and trusted flooring choice.” Brothers JD and Paul Esajian of CT Homes LLC coordinate many remodeling projects for Flip This House, including the New Haven home. “When I manage over a hundred projects a year with multiple general contractors and sub-contractors, I need a flooring supplier with a wide selection. With Shaw, I am able to choose from a wide variety of carpet, hardwood and tile options, including cutting-edge green products,” said Paul Esajian. Flip This House airs on A&E Saturdays 9 p.m. Eastern.
