Firms To Make Post Consumer Carpet Adhesive Filler
Dalton, GA, April 21, 2009--Two Georgia companies are teaming up to manufacture carpet adhesive fillers with post-consumer content, according to Waste & Recycling News.
Polar Materials Inc. of Social Circle, Ga., and Franklin Industrial Minerals of Dalton, Ga., have created a joint venture that will create fillers that utilize recycled carpet backing along with traditional limestone fillers.
Many styles of carpeting can contain up to 30% mineral filler, according to Polar Materials, and carpet mills use large quantities of limestone.
Mixing post consumer carpet adhesive filler with limestone filler helps manufacturers meet post-consumer content requirements. The process also can use post-consumer recycled glass power.
