Firm Develops Carpet Chemicals from Waste
Cleveland, TN, June 30, 2011 -- Manufacturers Chemicals said it has developed functional chemicals from vegetable oils, animal waste products, clay, and sand to replace synthetic chemicals in some products, including carpet.
The products are being marketed under the EcoCare trade name, the company said.
Carpet specific products include, EcoCare LNC, a polyester leveling auxiliary, EcoCare AC, barre coverage dyeing assistant for nylon, EcoLube Supra, a new type of extrusion lubricant, and a new natural defoamer yet unnamed. The company said the products are being produced commercially and more products are in the initial trial phase.
Manufacturers Chemicals said it has commercialized over twenty functional chemicals from plant oils including soybean, castor, corn, citrus, pine, olive, peanut, and granola. Animal wastes are also converted to chemicals including fish oil, whale oil, animal tallow and fat waste. Some other specialty products have been made using clay and sand.
