Fire Destroys North Carolina Rug Manufacturer

Grover, NC, August 27, 2007--Close to 100 firefighters from 5 companies responded to an early morning fire in Grover, N.C. Sunday.

 

The fire was first reported around 5 a.m. at the TrueLove Braided Rug Inc. manufacturing facilities at 1069 Long Branch Road.

 

Bethlehem Fire Chief Daryl Philbeck said the fire burned for more than two hours, and companies from Bethlehem, Cleveland, Grover, Oak Grove and Station Two all responded to the scene.

 

Cleveland County Emergency Services was also on hand provided medical supplies to firefighters as the faced the combination of hot flames and rising Sunday temperatures. No one was injured.

 

Chief Philbeck said that contrary to initial reports, no nearby homes were evacuated because of the fire, which he said started in the center of the building.

 

The investigation has been turned over to the Cleveland County Fire Marshal’s Office to determine the cause.
