Dalton, GA, January 8, 2007--A fire at Columbia Recycling’s facility early Saturday morning killed one and injured two. Dead was Leonel Delgado, 22, of Dalton. Of the two Columbia employees that were injured one of the injured was treated and released at Dalton’s Hamilton Medical Center, one was taken to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.
The Columbia facility, which was in the former Crown Cotton Mills on Chattanooga Ave, was a total loss.
The company recycles a variety of materials from the carpet industry including post consumer carpet with a latex backing.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
