Film About Ray Anderson Honored at Festival

Nevada City, CA, Jan. 26, 2009--The largest environmental film festival in the U.S. honored So Right, So Smart, a documentary that tells the story of Interface, Inc. Founder and Chairman Ray Anderson, who underwent a “mid-course correction,” in 1994 after reading The Ecology of Commerce by Paul Hawken when looking for inspiration for a speech.

Since that “spear in the chest” epiphany, Anderson has spearheaded an effort to transform Interface from a petroleum-based carpet manufacturer to a zero environmental footprint company by the year 2020.

The Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival honors films that demonstrate a passion for the art form as well as a clear, potent, and above all inspirational message. Over 300 films were narrowed to just 128 for the festival.

“The audience was inspired, and especially moved by Ray’s story,” said Guy Noerr of producer Magic Wig.

“They all wanted to know how they could buy the movie and get every company in the world to see it.” Chuck Jaffee, a local film critic and Jury Member for the Festival echoed the sentiment: “It should be that everybody is required to see this film ... (So Right, So Smart) proves that an engaging film that is environmental need not be mired in the ‘can’t when there is so much that ‘can’ be done that is already being done.”

So Right, So Smart explores how Ray's infectious advocacy and Interface's example have enlightened the minds and hearts of many other business leaders in America today.
