FiberFloor a Success for Tarkett Residential
Whitehall PA, July 14--Since its debut in January 2004 at Surfaces, FiberFloor from Tarkett Residential has given consumers new reason to consider sheet flooring for their homes. With its dynamic patterns, cushiony softness underfoot and simple installation, FiberFloor has combined all the virtues of traditional sheet floors, carpets and laminates to offer consumers a versatile new flooring option for their homes. And according to statistics from Tarkett, consumers are not just considering FiberFloor, they are buying it, in record numbers. “Consumer response to FiberFloor has greatly exceeded even our most optimistic forecasts for the product,” said Jan Lembregts, president, Tarkett Residential. “As of July 4th, our sales have already surpassed our projections for the entire year. What this tells us is that consumers want sheet flooring that is easy to install and is extremely comfortable underfoot. They really understand the value of the product.” Retailers are realizing the benefits of carrying FiberFloor as well. In a survey of its retailers, Tarkett learned that 80 percent who carry the product consider it unique and unlike other flooring, and 92 percent consider it an entirely new flooring category. The results indicated an enormous amount of excitement at the retail level to sell the floor. FiberFloor consists of an engineered fiberglass interlayer encapsulated between two vinyl layers with a comfort backing. As opposed to current resilient choices, the fiberglass interlayer and comfort backing in FiberFloor make the product more flexible and bendable. It provides dimensional stability so the flooring will not expand, contract, crack or curl. “FiberFloor has enabled us to open up a previously untapped, do-it-yourself market,” Dempsey continues. “Our customers love the no glue, no curl aspect of FiberFloor, which makes them more willing to install the flooring themselves. That’s great for us because it narrows our cash gap – they pay for it when they buy it and not after installation.”
