Washington, DC, September 8, 2006--Federated Department Stores Inc., sold or agreed to sell 63 stores as of Thursday, according to its quarterly report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The company chain completed its acquisition of May Department Stores Co., in 2005 for about $11.7 billion.
After the purchase, Federated said it would divest about 80 of the combined company stores, including about 40 acquired May locations.
As of Thursday, 63 of these 80 stores had been sold or under agreement to be sold, up from 56 as of June 7 when the company filed its previous quarterly report with the SEC.
