Cincinnati, OH, October 19--Federated Department Stores named William P. McNamara chairman and chief executive of its Famous-Barr division, which will be renamed Macy's Midwest on Feb. 1.
Brian L. Keck was named president and chief operating officer of the division, which now operates 42 stores in five states.
Effective Feb. 1, the division will retain 38 of those locations and assume responsibility for 38 Kaufmann's locations and six Macy's stores now operated by Macy's Central division.
All stores will convert to the Macy's nameplate in the fall of 2006.
McNamara, 55 years old, was most recently vice chairman of May Department Stores Co., which Federated acquired Aug. 30, and Keck, 52, was May's corporate senior vice president for human resources.
Federated said it is reviewing potential opportunities for the current principals of Famous-Barr's, President and CEO Ira Pickell and Chairman Duane T. Nicks.
