Federated Names Division Executives

Cincinnati, OH, Feb. 4--Federated Department Stores Inc. announced executive promotions on Tuesday. Ronald Klein will return to Macy's East as chairman and chief executive of the New York-based division, and Michael Krauter will be president and chief merchandising officer for Atlanta-based Rich's/Lazarus/Goldsmith's-Macy's, the company said in a statement. Klein, 55, has been chairman of the Atlanta division since 2001. He succeeds Hal Kahn, who is retiring after serving as chairman and CEO of the 104-store Macy's East division since 1994. Krauter, 46, has been executive vice president and director of stores in the Atlanta division since 2001. The new Macy's Home Store organization will be headquartered in New York and will be headed by Eric Salus, 50, president of the company's Seattle-based Bon-Macy's division. Federated, with corporate offices in Cincinnati and New York, is one of the nation's leading department store retailers, with annual sales of more than $15.2 billion. Federated operates more than 450 stores in 34 states, Guam and Puerto Rico.
