Faus Files Suits Against Mohawk, Columbia and Unil
Dalton, GA, February 1, 2006--On January 31, 2005, Industrias Auxiliaries Faus and Faus Group, Inc. initiated a patent infringement action against Mohawk Industries, Inc., Columbia Flooring, Inc., and Unilin Flooring, Inc. and its subsidiaries. The suit, which was filed in the Northern District of Georgia, Atlanta Division, charges Mohawk, Columbia and Unilin of infringing U.S. Patent Nos. 6,401,415 and 6,688,061 relating to Faus Embossed-In-Register® and Joint Guard® beveled edge technologies. Products discussed in the complaint include the “Havana Natural” and “South Beach” Laminate Flooring from Mohawk, the Laura Ashley Home brand and Echo Palisades laminate flooring lines from Columbia and the Quick-Step Perspective and Eligna laminate flooring lines from Unilin. These patents have already been licensed to major laminate flooring companies. Moreover, these patents were the subject of a previous patent infringement lawsuit against Pergo, which has been settled with Pergo taking a license.
