Factory Orders Rose 0.3% in April

Washington, DC, June 2, 2022-New orders for manufactured goods in April, up eleven of the last twelve months, increased $1.8 billion or 0.3% to $533.2 billion, the U.S. Census Bureau reported. This followed a 1.8% March increase. 

Shipments, up twenty-three of the last twenty-four months, increased $0.9 billion or 0.2% to $532.1 billion. This followed a 2.2% March increase. 

Unfilled orders, up twenty consecutive months, increased $6.0 billion or 0.5% to $1,106.8 billion. This followed a 0.5% March increase. 

The unfilled orders-to-shipments ratio was 6.07, up from 6.06 in March. Inventories, up twenty of the last twenty-one months, increased $4.4 billion or 0.6% to $786.1 billion. This followed a 1.4% March increase. The inventories-to-shipments ratio was 1.48, up from 1.47 in March.
