Factory Orders Decline in June

Washington, DC, Aug. 2, 2012 -- Factory orders in the U.S. declined unexpectedly in June, according to the Commerce Department.

The 0.5% drop followed a revised 0.5% increase in May.

Economists forecast a 0.5% gain.

June orders for durable goods rose 1.3%, revised from the 1.6% surge reported last week.

However, demand for non-durable items fell 2%, the biggest drop since March 2009.
