Evans of Tandus Gets Smrekar Award

Dalton, GA, December 4, 2007 – Paul Evans, director of technical services for Tandus, received the Joseph J. Smrekar Memorial Award at the Annual Meeting of the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) in late November.

The award, conceived by Milliken & Company, is a memorial to Dr. Joseph J. Smrekar who passed away in 1998. Smrekar served CRI through numerous technical committees and boards as chairman, representative and member. The honor, awarded by CRI annually, recognizes individuals who have similarly shown unusual and exemplary service to the carpet and rug industry.

“The award represents the dedication and depth of understanding of industry issues exemplified by Dr. Joe Smrekar,” said Werner Braun, president of CRI. “A lot of people from within the industry put in long and tireless hours in order to make CRI more than just a typical trade association. Paul Evans epitomizes that dedication and understanding.”
