European Patent Office Grants 'Small Strips

Viken, Sweden, June 28, 2006--The European Patent Office has granted a patent protecting so-called "Small Strips" to Välinge Innovation. This patent, EP 1 497 510, 28/06/06, with a priority date of 22/04/02 further strengthens the Välinge patent position in Europe and is a recognition of Välinge’s innovative work by the European Patent Office. This new patent covers floorboards with a small size and a laminate surface so that the floorboards resemble the traditional individual parquet strips allowing installation in advanced patterns. This installation of the floor is done with the same or even less time as with traditional sized floorboards. The installation time is reduced due to the fact that it is very easy to handle small strips and that the floorboard is provided with an efficient mechanical locking system. The long side is provided with the outstanding Välinge “Angle Loc” and the short side only needs, due to the small width, a “hook” for horizontal locking. An additional advantage of this invention is the fact that the production cost remains the same as for large planks. This “Small Strips” patent protects a laminate floor, which is a perfect copy of the traditional classic wood floor.
