Environmental Home Center Hit By Fire

Seattle, WA, August 13--Environmental Home Center, the nation's first sustainable building supplier, lost its main warehouse, showroom and office in an early-morning fire on August 11. Immediately following the fire, the company implemented a bold recovery plan to keep the business operational while retaining its entire 21-person staff. "Environmental Home Center is committed to keeping our team together and getting the business up and running again as quickly as possible," noted Tim Taylor, CEO. "We plan to have all customer systems up and all staff in temporary office space by no later than the end of next week." Management is working diligently to find a temporary location near their current SoDo location. A key focus is getting the retail end of the business back on track as quickly as possible. Two of the company's three warehouses were left intact so some stock is still available to customers. The company is committed to filling as many existing product orders as possible in a timely manner. Founded in 1992, Environmental Home Center offers sustainably made building and finish materials that protect health, perform well and look stylish, but don't necessarily cost more than conventional products. Environmental Home Center sells through a showroom in Seattle and operates a call center and outside sales team that respond to customers in all 50 states. Products include low-toxic paints & finishes, wool and plant-fiber carpets, sustainably harvested wood products including flooring and cabinets, true linoleum, water and air filters, energy-efficient insulation and people-friendly cleaning supplies.
