Empire Carpet Man Dies

New York, NY, April 29, 2011 --Elmer Lynn Hauldren, better known as the Empire Carpet Man, died at age 89.

Hauldren, who started his career at the company as a copywriter, portrayed the flooring company's character on TV since the 1970s.

After the character changed to an animated character, it continued to use Hauldren's voice.

“Lynn was truly passionate about the Empire brand,” said Steve Silvers, chief executive officer for Empire, in a press release.
