EcoTimber Gets New CEO, Wins Awards

Richmond, CA, May 6, 2009--Dale Payton-Engle has been named the new CEO of flooring supplier EcoTimber, replacing Lewis Buchner, who is leaving to pursue other environmental and green business interests.

"It has been deeply gratifying to help EcoTimber grow from a five-person company to the leading green flooring brand, and I am confident that the company will prosper under Dale’s leadership," Buchner said.

Payton-Engle previously held the positions of chief operations officer and chief financial officer since joining EcoTimber in May 2008. His professional experience has been in the branded consumer products area and includes a combination of expertise in both private equity middle-market portfolio companies across a diverse group of industries as well as Fortune 500 companies, including Avery-Dennison and Quaker Oats.

In his work in middle-market companies, Payton-Engle focused on mergers and acquisitions, improving operational efficiency, and sales and marketing, particularly in companies that sell natural and organic foods such as Annie’s Homegrown and Annie’s Naturals.

Meanwhile, EcoTimber received three 2009 Top Ten Green Building Product Earth Day Awards from Green Building Pages, a Web guide for sustainable building materials.

Honored for the third straight year, EcoTimber was recognized for its hand-scraped engineered hardwood flooring, exotics and its Classics line, all FSC-certified and made with non-formaldehyde adhesives in residential and commercial grade finishes.

Products were judged according to Green Building Pages Benchmarking Sustainability evaluation, a criterion in alignment with the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM-E2129) and the Sustainable Materials Rating Technology (SMART) building product consensus standard recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council.

“Green Building Pages is one of the few organizations that research every detail of a product's environmental impacts, from raw materials to transportation to longevity in service, so their green stamp of approval is truly meaningful," said Dan Harrington, EcoTimber director of product development.

Green Building Pages provides a product database with information concerning manufacturers and their processes and links to government resources and case studies, among others.
