E-commerce Sales Rose 3.9% in Q2

Washington, DC, August 17, 2018- The estimate of U.S. retail e-commerce sales for the second quarter of 2018 was $127.3 billion, an increase of 3.9% from the first quarter of 2018, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Total retail sales for the second quarter of 2018 were estimated at $1,327.9 billion, an increase of 1.6% from the first quarter of 2018. The second quarter 2018 e-commerce estimate increased 15.2% from the second quarter of 2017 while total retail sales increased 5.7% in the same period. E-commerce sales in the second quarter of 2018 accounted for 9.6% of total sales.

On a not adjusted basis, the estimate of U.S. retail e-commerce sales for the second quarter of 2018 totaled $120.4 billion, an increase of 6.4% from the first quarter of 2018. The second quarter 2018 e-commerce estimate increased 15.4% from the second quarter of 2017 while total retail sales increased 5.3% in the same period. E-commerce sales in the second quarter of 2018 accounted for 9.0% of total sales.
