E-Commerce Retail Sales Rose 3.2% in Q4

Washington, DC, February 16, 2018-The estimate of U.S. retail e-commerce sales for the fourth quarter of 2017 was $119.0 billion, an increase of 3.2% from the third quarter of 2017, according to The Census Bureau of the Department of Commerce.

Total retail sales for the fourth quarter of 2017 were estimated at $1,304.3 billion, an increase of 2.7% from the third quarter of 2017. The fourth quarter 2017 e-commerce estimate increased 16.9% from the fourth quarter of 2016 while total retail sales increased 5.7% in the same period. E-commerce sales in the fourth quarter of 2017 accounted for 9.1% of total sales.

Total e-commerce sales for 2017 were estimated at $453.5 billion, an increase of 16.0% from 2016. Total retail sales in 2017 increased 4.4% from 2016.
