Durable Goods Orders at Three-Year Low

Washington, DC, Feb. 28, 2012 -- Orders for durable goods fell in January by the most in three years, the Commerce Department said.

Demand fell across the board, with a 4% decline, the biggest since January 2009.

January's weakness followed strong gains in December and November. Economists had forecast orders falling 1%.

Excluding transportation, orders fell 3.2%.
