DuPont Textiles & Interiors Ups Fiber Prices

Wilmington, DE, Feb. 18—DuPont Textiles & Interiors will raise prices for its commercial and residential carpet fibers as of March. The decision is a result of several key factors, among them an escalation in raw material and energy costs, as well as compensation and benefit increases, including healthcare related costs. The increase on all commercial fiber is 4% to 7%; the increase on all residential fiber is 2% to 11%. It’s the first commercial fiber price increase in over two years. “We give serious consideration to any price increase decisions. DuPont Textiles & Interiors has worked diligently within the last three years to minimize the effect of inflation by maximizing on internal efficiencies,” said Alan Wolk, vice president and general manager of global flooring. “Even with our productivity improvement over the past three years, the dramatic increase in costs over the last six months has required us to take pricing action at this time.”
