DuPont and Dow in Advanced Talks to Merge

Wilmington, DE, December 9, 2015—DuPont Company and Dow Chemical Company are in advanced talks to merge, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Together, the two chemical companies are worth $120 billion.

Following the merger, it is believed that the companies would break up into different businesses: material sciences, specialty products and agrochemicals.

DuPont once had a core carpet fiber business, producing Stainmaster and Antron fibers. However, that business was sold to Koch when it bought Invista more than a decade ago. Today, DuPont continues to make Sorona for Mohawk.
