Domotex Talks To Feature Top Designers, Architects

Hannover, Germany, Nov. 18, 2014 -- The speakers at Domotex 2105 next January rank among the top names in the international architecture and design communities.

They will speak about the trends expected in the future and the implications for the work of designers and architects.

In a program embracing keynote speeches, roundtable discussions and talks the speakers will explore trends, developments and visionary ideas within the flooring sector.

Each day of the trade fair will focus on a specific keynote theme. Saturday, Jan. 17, is dedicated to the topic “Functionality versus atmosphere.”

Construction work is today dominated by budgetary considerations. Achieving the right balance between function and visual effect or atmosphere presupposes that sufficient money is available for a project – but what happens if funding is insufficient? In this conflict the client or developer usually opts for function.

Iconic designer Ross Lovegrove of Lovegrove Studio, London, Jasmin Grego, Jasmin Grego & Stephanie Kühnle Architektur GmbH, Zurich, and Peter Ippolito, head of the internationally known Ippolito Fleitz Group – Identity Architects, Stuttgart, Seoul and Zurich, together with other keynote speakers, will discuss how visual effect and comfort can be reconciled with function and utility.

On Sunday, Jan. 18 the keynote theme is “Quo vadis residential construction?” Housing is becoming increasingly expensive in the center of major cities.

Italian star designer and architect Roberto Palomba, Palomba Serrafini Associato, Milan, and Eva-Maria Lang, Knerer und Lang Architekten, Dresden, provide answers to the question as to how planners can make affordable, quality architecture possible.

On Monday, Jan. 19, the session will revolve around the topic, “The architect as an interface coordinator.” Architects often act as a mediator and coordinator in planning and construction processes.

Experts Professor Eli Seher of BRS Architects, Paris, and George Gewers of Gewers & Pudewill GmbH, Berlin, will outline the technical and communicative talents required of coordinators, as well as the resultant business opportunities.

On Tuesday, Jan. 20, the main topic of discussion will be “Transformation versus loss of cultural identity.”

The urban landscape is a composition of urban spaces and different types of building embracing both historic and contemporary building stock. Demolition? New construction? Conversion?

Various experts will exchange ideas and offer informed opinion. These include Christian Heuchel of Ortner + Ortner Baukunst, Cologne, and Alexander Schwarz from the prestigious Berlin-based architectural practice David Chipperfield Architects.
