Domotex Middle East Wraps Up Today

Dubai, United Arab Emrates, May 30, 2006--Dubai's fastest-ever selling trade show was opened Sunday, May 28 by Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of Dubai World, with a prediction that Domotex Middle East will grow still further in future years. After touring some of the 241 exhibitors from 36 countries at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), Bin Sulayem said "I'm very impressed with the range of products on show, and I have no doubt that plenty of business will be signed. "With the number of villas, hotels, offices and other projects under construction in Dubai it is a good idea to have a show of this nature right now. I'm sure it will be even bigger next year." The event which runs from May 28-30 is the fastest-selling, new-to-market trade show in the history of the DWTC. The three day Domotex Middle East event provides a high-profile shop window for the latest products and advances in carpets and floor coverings, with 86 per cent of exhibitors coming from overseas. Stands from Turkey and the UAE dominate floor space, followed by Germany and India. "Our exhibitors are very enthusiastic about the show. We wanted to export the quality of the original Domotex exhibition in Hannover to the UAE, and we are delighted by the incredible reception we've received," said Angela Schaschen, Managing Director of Messe Middle East, the regional cooperation partner of Domotex Middle East. "Many exhibitors are in the Middle East for the first time with new-to-market products and technology. This transforms the show into a laboratory of industry know-how." Bin Sulayem also praised the high level of technology on show. "There are some great ideas here, and some fascinating scientific advances." "This exhibition is very important for the large number of real estate projects underway in the region. It gives buyers choice and variety," he added. Target visitor groups include wholesalers and retailers of floor coverings, decision-makers in the contract and property development business, planners, architects and interior designers, interior decorators, construction companies and property investors, as well as their buyers and project managers, floor fitters and other skilled workers in this sector. Domotex Middle East is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President, Department of Civil Aviation, Government of Dubai and Chairman of the Emirates Group and with the official support of the UAE Contractors Association.
