Domotex Middle East Set for May

Dubai, UAE, Feb. 9, 2009--Domotex Middle East will highlight new concepts and trends during the exhibition’s 2009 edition May 17-19 at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre.

The Middle East’s carpet and floor coverings sectors are benefiting from the region’s relatively strong hospitality industry.

In the hotel segment alone, developments slated to open in 2009 and 2010 remain on schedule, with 54 hotels amounting to 15,360 rooms to be introduced this year. Developers and contractors are eyeing flooring materials that they are familiar with or which offer significant cost savings and performance benefits, in efforts to further streamline projects throughout the region.

“The region’s commercial and residential property sectors, which are going through a period of slower growth, are expected to recover strongly in the latter half of this year, presenting numerous opportunities for carpet and floor covering businesses," said Angela Schaschen, managing director of Deutsche Messe Branch Dubai.

Two areas that will showcase materials, products, techniques and trends for the hospitality and office sectors are Creative Flooring and Designers Corner.

Professionals from the UK will again demonstrate the latest hotel and office floor laying skills at the Creative Flooring section, while the Designers Corner will display the latest designs in flooring to interior designers and architects.

Supported by The American University in Dubai and the Association of Professional Interior Designers (APID), the Designers Corner will feature the top regional and international concepts in interior design. An added feature is the APID Flooring Seminar, which will tackle the role of flooring in interior design.

Over 100 professional interior designers are expected to attend the seminar, which will be conducted at the Designers Corner.

Domotex Middle East 2009 will showcase a complete line of handmade and machine-made carpets; textile and resilient floor coverings; parquet and wooden flooring; laminates; sports arena flooring; fibers, yarns and textiles; cleaning and application technologies; ceramic tiles; and natural stone and marble floorings.
